Vacancy Details

  • SSC (Tech) Men: 350 vacancies
  • SSC (Tech) Women: 29 vacancies
  • Widows of Defence Personnel ( 2): 1 vacancy for SSCW Tech and 1 vacancy for SSCW Non-Tech

This recruitment drive offers a total of approximately 381 positions.

Who can apply?

It is important to check your eligibility before you apply.

1. Nationality: Must be an Indian citizen.

2. Age Limit (as at April 1, 2026 ):

  • SSC (Technology) Women & Men: Candidates should be between the age of 20 to 27 years. You must be between April 2 1999 and April 1 2006.
  • Widows who are former members of the Defence Forces: Maximum age is 35 years.

3. Education Qualification

  • Required Degree Candidates should have completed the Engineering Degree or be in their final year.
  • Final-Year Students: Students in their final year are eligible to apply. However, they must submit proof that they have passed their degree examinations by April 1, 2020. The students must also produce their engineering degree within 12 weeks of the start of training.
  • Eligible streams: A variety of engineering branches, such as Civil, Computer Science and Electronics, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, are acceptable.

The Uniform Selection Process:

The SSC (Technical) selection procedure is a multistage process designed to identify the best candidates.

Shortlisting Applications The first step is screening. The Indian Army will select candidates on the basis of the grades they have achieved up until the pre-final semester in their engineering degree. The number of vacancies available and the number applications will determine the cut-off percentage.

Stage 2: SSB interview
Candidates who are shortlisted will be invited to an interview with the Services Selection Board (SSB). This is a five-day comprehensive personality and intelligence test.

  • Location: SSB interviews take place at the selection centres (Allahabad Bhopal Bengaluru or Kapurthala).
  • Process: During the five-day period, candidates will be required to complete psychological tests, GTO tasks, an interview with a Group Testing Officer, and attend a conference. The purpose of the test is to assess a candidate’s Officer Like Qualities (OLQs).

Stage 3: Medical Exam

The Indian Army will conduct a medical examination on all candidates recommended by the SSB Board to make sure they meet their physical and medical standards.

The final merit list is prepared based on the marks that candidates obtained in the SSB interviews. Those who are on the list and medically fit, will receive letters of invitation to train at OTA in Chennai.
